Chapel Players

The Chapel Players have been producing plays since 1975, starting with Easter plays in the Church. They have been producing Three Act plays and the Easter plays in the Schoolroom since 1980; prior to that there had been a Drama Society in the Church in the 1950s and 1960s.

The name Chapel Players was first used for the production of ‘Counsel for the Defence’ in 1986.

Three Act plays are produced over five nights in both November and February each year, with an Easter play during Holy Week.

Although we have a small stage in the School room we regularly play to packed houses. Our productions are varied; we often produce comedies but have also produced classics, ranging from ‘See How They Run’ to ‘Jane Eyre’. In 2000 the Players were asked by Clay Cross Parish Council to put on a production as part of their Millennium celebrations, so ‘See How They Run’ went on tour; three nights at the Church and two nights in Clay Cross Social Centre.

The Chapel Players latest production was ‘Ladies in Retirement’ performed 3rd -7th March 2009. Two short plays were also performed as part of an Easter Celebration in the Church.

The Players are always happy to welcome new members, especially men or women in their twenties or thirties! Use the Contact Us section for further information.
